Vonfidel Ranch

Vonfidel Ranch

Private riding holidays and guided horsemanship in Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province, shaped by horse welfare, rider suitability and the landscape.

OUR EXPERIENCES

Vonfidel Ranch offers private, advance-arranged riding holidays, guided trail rides and structured horsemanship in Sri Lanka's Eastern Province. Small groups are matched to suitable horses and routes; pace, distance and whether a ride proceeds are governed by horse welfare, rider readiness, tropical conditions and land access. Visitors learn responsible horsemanship and move through the Punanai landscape without walk-in volume or fixed spectacle.

ABOUT US

Vonfidel Ranch provides careful, low-volume equestrian travel that protects horses, matches riders responsibly, respects the eastern landscape and makes practical welfare knowledge available beyond the Ranch.

IMPACT

Vonfidel's operating impact begins with limits: riding groups are capped at six, bookings are manually screened, and rides may be shortened, reassigned or cancelled when horse condition, heat, footing or rider suitability do not align. In 2026 the Ranch released an open practitioner field brief on responsible equestrian tourism in tropical conditions. Syntropic agroforestry has been practiced since 2015 alongside manure composting, forage production, water management, waste reduction, land greening and biodiversity work. Since 2018, a Ranch water source has served livestock in the wider area, estimated at approximately 2,000 animals. Since 2022, an outside-gate self-service tap has supplied approximately 1,000 litres of RO-treated drinking water daily, free to about 45 village households. Work toward an intermediate forest is in progress and is not counted as a completed outcome.
